20 SPOOKY VINTAGE HALLOWEEN POSTCARDS: PART 2

Posted by PicasaHere I have selected my favorite vintage Halloween postcards. Most are from around 1915 to the 20's. I do like the recurring themes of witches, devils, black cats, pumpkins and jack o lanterns, ghosts and magic mirrors. Not to mention owls and bats and the full moon.

  2. Yes, I'd like to be on holiday in the U.S and experience a real Halloween. Its not really followed here. Imagine seeing Elvira or someone do a live show. The vintage Halloween postcards are the best and the creepiest. Like good old horror movies. I have quite a collection, but not all of these of course. They are very costly now. But every year I buy a few really good ones. I am mental for old postcards at the moment, mainly old 'Ross' postcards of movie stars of the Golden Era, European stars. There is a certain magic in these postcards, a real glamour that we've lost. They were perfection really, beautifully shot, beautifully printed. Ross postcards, and some Picturegoer postcards & others can be very valuable, especially ones of Josephine Baker, Anna May Wong, Brigitte Helm, Dietrich, Garbo, Valentino and others. Robbie.

  3. I wish the old Halloween style would come back. I love the vintage orange, black and yellow cut-out decorations. All you see in the Halloween stores these days is Zombie this and that. Blood, gore, and cheaply made props.
Fortunately, re-production vintage style decor can be purchased online.

I could barely contain myself when I vistied Salem Mass, one Halloween. Being known as the "Witch City" there was vintage Halloween collectables everywhere. If you go anywhere for Halloween, I would suggest Salem. There were many little shops selling re-makes of these postcards. Good times :)
