Posted by PicasaIts funny but when I look at photos like this, and try to envision what these guys lives were like, I think of weird things…like…  in the early 1890's-30's photos, how did they do their hair without a hairdryer, and what about their skin…before skin products and a good cleanser? What about their teeth and diets? I know its ridiculous, the food in some cases was probably better than now, healthier, no additives or sweeteners. But only if you were from a well to do family. Some of the guys can look older very young, just from what their jobs entailed. The other thing I've noticed from the very early shots are the team uniforms with holes in them…. frayed around the edges. But then of course after WW2 clothing became better quality, as we went through an austerity binge period, before man made textiles that came in in the 60's. Myself I like a pure cotton or pure wool, I can't even wear a poly blend..I sweat… I also love looking at the hairstyles.. today, beards are back, and it takes a bit of getting used to. Not for me I'm afraid. A guy with a bushy beard creeps me out… but these 1910's hairstyles, and cropped beards are cool on some blokes…. and its good to see fashions rotate. But to me certain college boy good looks never date, they're timeless, like old Arrow Shirt ads. If you're hot, you're hot…no matter what decade.
